On May 6, the Slidell ISD community will vote on the district’s $25.9 million bond package.
Why is Slidell ISD having a bond election?
What is included in this bond package?
New elementary school
3 classrooms per grade level
A tornado shelter (per ICC 500 code as required)
High school
Kitchen and serving line expansion
Safety and security upgrades
HVAC in the WPA gymnasium
Vo-Ag facility upgrades
Parking improvements
How will this affect my taxes?
If the voters approve the bond, there will be a 25 cent I&S tax impact. For a home worth $100k that would be an impact of $20.83 a month.
65+ Homestead Exemption
There will be no tax rate increase for those 65+ with an approved homestead exemption. Under state law, the dollar amount of school taxes imposed on the residence homestead of a person 65 years of age or older cannot be increased above the amount paid in the first year after the person turned 65 or disabled.
